The author uses historical approach, trying to explain Yugoslav communists' comprehension of fascism in the context of historical events which had led its emergence. The first part of this article deals with the Yugoslav Communist Party's (YCP) attitudes toward the fascism in Italy. In the second part, the YCP's estimation of the fascistic character of the dictatorship to Yugoslavia is being analyzed. The third part shows the comprehension of fascism after Hitler had come in power in Germany. At last, in the fourth part, the YCP's .attitudes toward fascism after the pact between Germany and USSR had been signed, are presented.
