The basic models of explanation of socialization in the contemporary anthropology

The article represents the abstract from the research in the study of socialization in contemporary Anglo-American anthropology. It is concerned with three predominant 'models' (in terms of 'ways') of explanation of the topic in the American and British anthropology from 1960s up to date. After having analyzed the models: instrumental-transmission' (functional); 2. 'interactive- communicational' (interpretative), and 3. 'cultural-ecological' (neoevolutional) model, the author makes their evaluation referring to the anthropological tradition and to their ability to provide so called integral approach to the study of socialization. The conclusions drawn from the analysis show that neither of the models itself provides us with the integral approach which could encompass the problem of socialization in the whole of its complexity. Nevertheless, the most fruitful achievements of 'cultural-ecological' and 'interactive-interpretative' models could be, and in fact are, incorporated into ISO called 'practice approach'. While the emerging 'practice approach' promises to 'shed light' on the understanding of socialization, its currency demands that it remains the topic of a more profound future research
