There has been great progress in the field of translation studies in China since the end of the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976) and the launch of China\u27s reform (1978). Different scholars in the field of translation studies have tried to develop translation studies as an independent discipline in China through various methods. Some have tried to introduce Western theories of translation to China, and others, e.g. Luo Xinzhang, endeavored to develop Chinese theories in the field through exploring Chinese thinking on translation based on China’s own cultural traditions.
