Work is underway to clarify the population status of Virginia\u27s biota that have been considered rare, endangered, or of an unknown population status by earlier scientists (Porter, 1979). The purpose of the current study was to investigate the population status and areal distribution of five of these plant species found on the tidal rivers of the Coasta1 Plain in Virginia. Although only a small portion of a much larger effort, it is hoped that this work will help fill some of the gaps that exist in our data base on these species.
