Regional analysis of erosion surfaces in southern Sweden

The gross morphology of the Precambrian basement of southern Sweden is analysed. The area has a domed form and emerges from under a cover of Palaeozoic rocks in the north and east and Mesozoic rocks in the south and west. It is studied with the aid of the distribution of small‑ and medium‑scale bedrock forms, remnants of ancient weathering crusts and cover rocks, and of topographic profiles. A map of erosion surfaces has been constructed for the southern part of the area. Exhumed sub‑Cambrian, sub-Jurassic and sub­-Cretaceous inclined surfaces are cut by more horizontal surfaces at different levels, viz. at about 50 m, 90–125 m, the South Småland Peneplain with two slightly different levels at 125–165 m and 165–185 in, 200–230 in, and about 300 m
