Study abroad (SA) is considered one of the best ways to learn a foreign (FL) or second language (L2) while developing open-mindedness and intercultural awareness (Williams, 2009). Yet, less attention has been placed on students’ perception on identity development. Thus, the current study focuses on how the outcome (identity awareness in a SA setting) is achieved through the relationship between subject (students), instruments (tools and artifacts), community and rules (classroom and SA experience), division of labor (peer feedback) in relation to the object (Digital story).
