In this study, an MgAl-hydrotalcite was synthesized coprecipitation method to fabricate a novel adsorbent material for adsorption of azoic dye (Congo red) from aqueous solution. The morphological and structural characteristics of prepared material were identified by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The adsorption of CR dye on MgAl-hydrotalcite was carried using batch system, the adsorption capacity of certain parameters such as the mass of the adsorbent and the pH solution was carried out. The obtained results show that the optimal mass that leads to a maximum rate of adsorption is 20 mg, and the optimum pH was found to be about 4
