The Ghallil basin is part of the arid zones of the Moroccan Southeast, which are subject to the influences of climate change. Where rainfall drought inevitably leads to a deficit in water supplies in the region. The objective of this study is to estimate peak flood flows, after studying the concentration time, and characterize the rainfall regime and the climatic drought in the Ghallil basin for the period from 1977 to 2016, using the calculation of the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) for climatological stations of Ait Bouijane, Meroutcha, and Akrouz. The results obtained after the calculation of this index allowed us to detect drought periods very remarkable in their intensity, duration and frequency
