Adequacy and Functionality of Information and Communication Technology Resources in Business Education Programme of Colleges of Education in Delta State

This study ascertained the adequacy and functionality of information and communication technology resources in business teacher education programme of colleges of education in Delta State. Two research questions guided the study. The study adopted the descriptive survey design. The population of the study consists of 15 ICT resources and 114 business educators in four business education departments in colleges of education in Delta State. The National Commission for Colleges of Education benchmark inventory for instructional resources in business education programme and questionnaire were used for data collection. Frequency count and simple percentage were used to answer research questions. The findings of the study revealed that available ICT resources as stipulated by the benchmark of NCCE for business education programmes are not adequate in colleges of education in Delta State. The study further disclosed that majority of the available ICT resources in business teacher education programmes were functional in colleges of education in Delta State. It is concluded that ICT resources are not adequate for effective implementation of business teacher education programme in colleges of education in Delta State and the few functional resources cannot prepare students for the today’s business environment. Management of colleges of education should develop a strong alliance with ICT experts to enable them see the need to establish a functional business education ICT laboratory with modern technological gadgets used in the business world
