This article highlights relevant historical aspects of the evolution that Dominican dairy cattle have experienced. In the first place, its arrival on the island and its subsequent distribution to the rest of the Latin American countries are briefly discussed. As a result of the loss of this genetics due to non-directed crosses, aspects are presented in relation to the history of their search throughout the country to establish a herd, called Dominican Creole dairy cattle. After its rescue, the conservation processes began in a farm of the Research Center for the Improvement of Animal Production (CIMPA), located in Santiago de los Caballeros.
