At the beginning of the 14th century, some members of the Order of Friars Minor occupied convents in the Tuscany region without authorization. The aim of this article is to carry out an analysis of an exceptional situation in the framework of ecclesiastical institutions in the late Middle Ages. We will stop at the construction presented by the various sources on a fact of marked conflict. For this reason, it is important to reconstruct how the speeches that refer to the various actions carried out by the friars unfold. We will start from rethinking which are the elements that we collect in the sources that refer to the faults committed by the friars and to situations of extreme adversity, and what vocabulary is used in this sense.
