La Prehistoria en los medios publicitarios: el uso comercial de la distorsión del pasado

Prehistory is not an unknown stage of history for the people at large. However, despite the advances in prehistory research and informative initiatives, prehistory is still conveyed under strong stereotypes and clichés.The aim of this work is the analysis of social vision towards prehistory and prehistorical issues through the study of fourteen advertising pieces which have a prehistorical theme. The study has been developed following four guidelines of analysis: concept of prehistory, image of the environment, prehistoric humankind and behaviors associated with prehistory. All the above will allow the achievement of an approximation to the collective imagination and current biases in society regarding prehistory and prehistorical aspects.La prehistoria no es una etapa de la historia ajena al gran público. Sin embargo, a pesar de los avances en la investigación prehistórica y las acciones divulgativas, la prehistoria se sigue representando bajo fuertes estereotipos y clichés.El presente trabajo analiza la visión social de la prehistoria y lo prehistórico a través del estudio de catorce piezas publicitarias audiovisuales de temática prehistórica. El estudio se ha hecho en base a cuatro líneas de análisis: el concepto de prehistoria, la imagen del entorno, la humanidad prehistórica y los comportamientos asociados a la prehistoria; lo que permite obtener una aproximación al imaginario colectivo y las distorsiones presentes en la sociedad sobre la prehistoria y lo prehistórico
