In order to produce more fuel-efficient airplanes, the percentage and weight of composites used in structural components are increasing. Manufacturing processes for composites as Automated Tape Laying (ATL) and Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) are used to produce large parts. A part is typically made from many plies laid up on top of each other. A ply is generated by placing tapes side by side. Thus, presented research works contribute to improve manufacturing processes for composites.
