PERCEPTION AND IMPLICATION OF MA'BADONG TRADITION IN THE RAMBU SOLO 'CEREMONY IN THE LEMBANG PEMANUKAN COMMUNITY, DISTRICTS GANDANG BATU SILLANAN DISTRICT TANA TORAJA

The objectives of this study were (1) to describe the perception of the Lembang Penggukan community on the meaning of the Ma'Badong custom at the Rambu Solo ceremony in Gandang Batu Sillanan District, Tana Toraja Regency. (2) To describe the implications of Ma'Badong for the community in Lembang Penggukan, Gandang Batu Sillanan District, Tana Toraja Regency. This research was conducted using qualitative research methods with descriptive research type. The subjects in this study were 8 informants consisting of 2 traditional leaders, 1 community leader, 1 youth leader, 3 community members and the head of the lembang. By using interview data collection techniques and documentation. The results of this study indicate that: (1) In Ma'Badong, people who become leaders are people who are smart or have the ability to speak in Toraja. The implementation of Ma'Badong is not carried out arbitrarily if only 1 animal (buffalo) is slaughtered, it is not allowed to be in Badong, except for the animal (buffalo) which is slaughtered by 2 heads and above, it is appropriate to be in Badong. With Ma'Badong, a sense of kinship, togetherness, unity, it seems that this is marked by an attitude of mutual support, mutual strengthening, and mutual comfort through the singing of Badong. (2) As the Toraja people in Lembang Penggukan, especially the younger generation, we must love and preserve the culture or traditions that we have so that one day the traditions or cultures that we have had from the past will not be eroded or faded due to modern culture.
