Caracterización geoambiental del inventario de pasivos ambientales en la región minera de Santa Lucía, Cuba

With the objective of developing the integral environmental evaluation for the perspective remediation of the impacts generated in the mining region of Santa Lucia, the environmental and cartographic characterization of the inventory of environmental liabilities (EL) registered in the area is developed. Theoretical methods were used, such as historical-logical analysis and the systemic approach. As empirical methods, the documentary analysis of the most up-to-date references on the subject. A spatial data infrastructure (SDI) platform supported by ArcGIS is used. For the survey of the EL, the geological method of irregular itineraries is used in three sectors of the region. The tools used for the processing and preparation of the GIS were supported by ArcMap. For the preparation of the maps, we worked on the basis of the Digital Terrain Model (DTM) available at a scale of 1:25,000. The proportion between the exploitation of the natural resource, the emission of waste, the nature of the EL, its active components and its life cycle are correlated. An unprecedented inventory of 62 ELs for the region is presented, broken down into 16 mining liabilities, 31 chemicals, seven health, five technology and three agroforestry. The developed GIS of the ELs of the region, allows the effective management in pursuit of the mitigation of the negative impacts generated to the exposed ecosystems, from the correlation with the geology, the hydrogeology, the tectonics, the ecosystems and the model of digital terrain elevation in the study area.Con el objetivo de desarrollar la evaluación ambiental integral para la remediación perspectiva de los impactos generados en la región minera de Santa Lucía, se desarrolla la caracterización ambiental y cartográfica del inventario de los pasivos ambientales (PA) registrados en la zona. Se emplearon los métodos teóricos, como el análisis histórico-lógico y el enfoque sistémico. Como métodos empíricos, el análisis documental de los referentes más actualizados del tema. Se emplea una plataforma de infraestructura de datos espaciales (IDE) con soporte en ArcGIS. Para el levantamiento de los PA, se emplea el método geológico de itinerarios irregulares en tres sectores de la región. Las herramientas utilizadas para el procesamiento y confección del SIG estuvieron apoyadas por ArcMap. Para la confección de los mapas se trabajó sobre la base del Modelo Digital del Terreno (MDT) disponible a escala 1:25000. Se correlaciona la proporción entre explotación del recurso natural, la emisión de residuos, la naturaleza del PA, los componentes activos de este y su ciclo de vida. Se expone un inventario de 62 PA sin precedentes para la región, desglosados en 16 pasivos mineros, 31 químicos, siete sanitarios, cinco tecnológicos y tres agroforestales. El SIG desarrollado de los PA de la región, permite la gestión efectiva en pos de la mitigación de los impactos negativos generados a los ecosistemas expuestos, a partir de la correlación con la geología, la hidrogeología, la tectónica, los ecosistemas y el modelo de elevación digital del terreno en el área de estudio
