The importance of ERP planning in developing economies and failure of ERP implementation in chinese economies is discussed. The ERP process is designed for rule-based mature economies not for the governance based systems like China. It is found that in case of ERP controlled economy the role of third party is very important. The cases of failed implementation in context of china suggests that global ERP vendors needs to understand cultural differences rather than just implementation of superior technology. The problems related to language, reporting formats, cost control capabilities, and frequent redesigning process for successful implementation of ERP in china are also elaborated
