The possibility of a simultaneous thermal release of electrons and holes in the thermoluminescence (TL) process was suggested in the early stages of the development of this discipline. However, most investigators utilized a model in which carriers of only one kind are thermally released from their “traps”. In this model these carriers then radiatively recombine with carriers of opposite charge in “luminescence centers”. This paper presents the results of a theoretical investigation into a more complex model, which allows the thermal release of electrons and holes in the same temperature range. The solution of a set of four simultaneous differential equations is required in this investigation. The equations are not amenable to analytical sol...
