Weight stigma is pervasive and is associated with both reduced physical and psychological health. In broader discrimination literature, confronting prejudice beliefs has shown effective in reducing stigmatizing attitudes, while also increasing apologetic and corrective behaviour. This research applied a prejudice confrontation paradigm to challenge anti-fat attitudes. In the confrontation condition, participants read a paragraph designed to combat stigmatizing myths about higher-weight people.
