Maria Luisa Candau Chacon presents here the results of a research project dedicated to the "emotional life of women, their experiences of the world and forms of sensibility between Europe and America, 1600-1900" (HAR2015-63804-P). The texts she brings together and introduces as coordinator of the book are exciting for researchers interested in the history of travel in the Contemporary Age. We follow the itineraries of five women travelers of different nationalities-the American Caroline Elizabeth Cushing; the Englishwomen Lady Louisa Tenison and Isabella Bird; and the Spaniards Emilia Serrano, Baroness de Wilson and María de Maeztu.
