The object of investigation in this dissertation is essentially French phonology, and in particular the proper description and treatment of some well-known phenomena or processes which have often attracted the attention of linguists, such as : alternations between ‘zero’ and a word-final consonant, liaison, the status of nasalized vowels, the status of schwa, H aspiré.Data from many other languages are also examined in a comparative approach.
