The compound La2Mo2O9 and the oxyapatite solid solution La(28/3)+x(SiO4)6O2+(3x/2)are interesting candidates for use as electrolyte in SOFC fuel cells.Nevertheless, both present drawbacks limiting their possible use. The aim of this thesis was to explore two possible work arounds to these problems.The first one consists in a combination of both materials in the form of a core-shell composite with La2Mo2O9as corematerial and oxyapatite as protective shell against reduction.This goal is challenging due to different thermal stability andsintering conditions for the two materials.
