We investigate high-speed confined granular flows down smooth inclines by means of discrete element method simulations. We bring to light new flow regimes with heteregenous packing fraction and complex secondary flows including flows with convection rolls, supported flows and an oscillating regime. Among them, the supported flow regime is particularly interesting. It consists in a dense granular core floating on a dilute and agitated granular layer as an air cushion and may be a good candidate for explaining long run-out avalanches.
