Thermal resistance is one of the physical parameters used to assess the level of thermal insulation of a building wall. Its value influences the thermal comfort of the occupants and the heat losses through the wall. In addition, knowledge of the thermal resistance is useful in the context of refurbishment work requiring detailed information on the energy performance of the building considered. Existing methods for evaluating the thermal resistance rely on two distinct approaches: passive or active.
