This thesis deals with the control optimization of hybrid renewable energy systems. Initially, two new algorithms for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) in photovoltaic (PV) systems are developed. These algorithms are based on the current-voltage characteristics curve of a PV panel and exploit the adaptive linear neuron (ADALINE) technique. In order to prove their effectiveness, experimental validation according to prEN 50530 test standard is carried out. The proposed controls have proven to be a highly efficient.
