The nearby space of the pupils and in particular that of their school is an important didactic issue for French primary school teachers who teach geography in their classes and in particular in the first two years of cycle 3 (CM1-CM2). This research work proposes to observe how teaching from the nearby space can help develop the geographical awareness of pupils. It is a question of placing the nearby space as an object of study in the history of school geography of the first degree in order to understand what types of purposes it has, but also to observe in what way it can be questioned by the epistemological renewal of living in the framework of a didactic reflection on the programs.
