Développer la conscience géographique des élèves en enseignant à partir de l'espace proche

The nearby space of the pupils and in particular that of their school is an important didactic issue for French primary school teachers who teach geography in their classes and in particular in the first two years of cycle 3 (CM1-CM2). This research work proposes to observe how teaching from the nearby space can help develop the geographical awareness of pupils. It is a question of placing the nearby space as an object of study in the history of school geography of the first degree in order to understand what types of purposes it has, but also to observe in what way it can be questioned by the epistemological renewal of living in the framework of a didactic reflection on the programs. The objective is then the co-construction of a didactic engineering with voluntary teachers and its evaluation using several methodologies. It will be a question of studying the conditions of possibilities from the point of view of the teachers to teach from the nearby space and to analyze the learning that the pupils build there by means of their drawings of representations of space. The present work thus proposes two different methodologies of analysis of the drawings of representation of space of the pupils as well as a typology of their way of representing, thinking and living the space.L’espace proche des élèves et en particulier celui de leur école est un enjeu didactique important pour les enseignants polyvalents français du premier degré qui enseignent la géographie dans leurs classes et en particulier dans les deux premières années du cycle 3 (CM1-CM2). Ce travail de recherche propose d’observer en quoi l’enseignement à partir de l’espace proche peut permettre de développer la conscience géographique des élèves. Il s’agit de replacer l’espace proche en tant qu’objet d’étude dans l’histoire de la géographie scolaire du premier degré afin de comprendre de quels types de finalités il relève, mais également d’observer en quoi il peut être questionné par le renouvellement épistémologique de l’habiter dans le cadre d’une réflexion didactique sur les programmes. L’objectif est alors la coconstruction d’une ingénierie didactique avec des enseignants volontaires et son évaluation à l’aide de plusieurs méthodologies. Il s’agira ainsi d’étudier les conditions de possibilités du point de vue des enseignants d’enseigner à partir de l’espace proche et d’analyser les apprentissages que les élèves y construisent au moyen de leurs dessins de représentations de l’espace. Le présent travail propose ainsi deux méthodologies différentes d’analyse des dessins de représentation de l’espace des élèves ainsi qu’une typologie de leur manière de représenter, penser et habiter l’espace
