Medical imaging is spreading more and more into a bimodal system. Considerable research has been conducted in this field of hybrid contrast agents over the last years. Therefore, Positron-Emission Tomography (PET), a sensitive method, can allow the identification and localization of a tumor and the therapy monitoring, while fluorescence can help during surgery. A probe with these two kinds of medical imaging would make possible the entire patient support, from the diagnosis of the cancer to the treatment by surgery and the therapy monitoring.
