Brazil drinks very little wine compared to Europe and its neighbors like Argentina. This level of consumption has remained stable over the last decades. Despite efforts, the wine sector is struggling to improve the Brazilian appetite for wine. The novelty of our approach lies in an original perspective to analyze this phenomenon: the imaginary. Following the socio-anthropological approach established by Gilbert Durand, we ask the question: how can the imaginary shed light on what drives Brazilians to consume wine?
