For intérieur, for privé et ressenti dans les récits de voyage du clergé français en émigration dans les pays germaniques et de l’Europe centrale

This thesis tries to look into the evolution of the concepts of for interior and for private and the own feeling in the ego-documents of the members of clergy who emigrated in Germany and Danubian Europe during the French Revolution.This study consists of an investigation and an analysis of some no-fictional diaries including literature, history, political history, theology ethnology, and linguistic.The autors, whose origins are from the bourgeoisie and the nobility emigrated in Germany, and the Switzerland soon occupied by the French Revolution army then in other countries, Austria, Hungary Transylvania, Bohemia which were non-occupied belligerents. The writers, some trappists, one Jesuit who emigrated after the suppression of the company of Jesus and the secular clergy describe their journey, in situ or from their notes or memories. In those testimonies we can see the primordial place of the teaching of religion but also the influence of the “Lumières”, just like Abbot Lambert and the Jesuit Feller with their political commitment. Those writing are accompanied or compared to those German autors like Goethe Gottlob von Schirachs or like George Forster and Friedrich Christian Laukhard.Cette thèse essaie d’examiner l’évolution des concepts de for intérieur et de for privé et de ressenti dans les ego-documents du clergé émigré en Allemagne et dans l’Europe danubienne durant la Révolution française. Ce travail consiste en une enquête, une analyse et une brève étude de genre incluant, littérature, histoire, histoire politique, théologie, ethnographie, linguistique. Les scripteurs, quelques trappistes, un jésuite luxembourgeois qui émigra après la suppression de son ordre en France et quelques séculiers racontent leur voyage in situ ou à partir de notes ou de souvenirs. Dans ces témoignages on peut voir la place primordiale de l’enseignement religieux mais aussi l’influence des Lumières. Les auteurs décrivent leurs souffrances, leurs espoirs mais aussi la réception des populations dont ils observent les coutumes parfois avec des clichés. Le for prive plus présent chez les séculiers remplace le for intérieur chez les trappistes avec la découverte du plaisir le long du Danube tout comme l’abbé Lambert et François-Xavier de Feller dans leur engagement politique. Les écrits sont accompagnés ou comparés à ceux d’auteurs allemands comme Goethe, Gottlob von Schirachs ou comme Georges Forster et Friedrich Christian Laukhard
