This work develops a probabilistic approach for the life time of a unidirectional metal matrix composite under axial low cycle fatigue. The SCS-6/Ti6242 composite has to be used as circonferential reinforcement in a new generation of compressor ring in aircraft engines : the BLaded rINGs (BLING). In the low cycle fatigue range, final failure is governed by the fibres breaks and their interactions. The proposed approach is first to evaluate the statistical fracture behaviour of the fibres with the help of an in situ identification method : the single fibre fragmentation test.
