The dynamic models of memory insist on its capacity to recompose itself in order to integrate the elements of an episode with each other (associative level) and with previous episodes (relational level). While it is widely accepted that sleep contributes to memory, little is known about its effects at these levels. Dreams probably testify to these recompositions but, being eminently subjective, they often resist scientific investigation. The goal of our research was therefore, first, to evaluate the characteristics of sleep in students, second, to determine what methods of studying dreams could be used to, third, to study the link between memory, sleep and dreams.
