Deep Soil Mixing is originally a ground improvement technique which consists in mixing in-situ soil with an hydraulic binder. It is an economical solution, which allows to make soils constructible in the field of deep foundations. Today, the use of this process goes beyond the limits of soil improvement and extends to realization of retaining walls, waterproof walls, and other foundation elements both non-structural and structural.Research on this material show a particular difficulty to estimate the properties of the material mixed on site from laboratory-manufactured specimens.
