Assessment of aortic stenosis (AS) severity is challenging due to potential pitfalls. The ratio of acceleration time to ejection time (AT/ET) is a simple and reproducible parameter, in addition to standard evaluation, to identify severe AS. AT/ET>0,36 is associated with a poor outcome, including in the sub-group of low gradient severe aortic stenosis with preserved ejection fraction. This sub-group remains a matter of debate.
