Kathleen Moore Oral History Interview

Interview with Dr. Kathleen Moore, USF Associate Vice President for System Initiatives, who recounts her career as a senior administrator spanning 25 years. She first discovered the university as a student in the College of Education in 1978, continuing her education through her PhD, completed in 1990. She then applied for a position in the USF Provost’s Office, where she discovered her interest in higher education administration. Dr. Moore was instrumental in guiding the course of USF’s growth and development through four presidential administrations: Francis Borkowski, interim president Bob Bryan, Betty Castor and Judy Genshaft. Dr. Moore discusses the history of USF including the physical development of the campus environment, university reorganization and the development of the College of Arts and Sciences, the impact and influence of replacing the Board of Regents with the Board of Trustees, lack of state funding, the university accreditation process, and the controversial transformation of the USF Lakeland campus to Florida Polytechnic University
