Richard Ames Oral History Interview

Dr. Richard Ames, DDS, MPH was a longtime director of dental health with the Broward County Health Department in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In this oral history interview, Dr. Ames describes his educational and professional journey into dentistry and public health. He recounts his dental education at the Medical College of Virginia, his master’s program at John Hopkins University School of Public Health, and his career in the military. Dr. Ames also reflects on his nine years in private practice in Pahokee, Florida and his decision to transition into an administrative role with the state health department.
