The article presents chosen tropes and selected works from the oeuvre of Ewa Partum, Polish pioneer of both feminist and conceptual art. The artist combines the reflection on woman’s situation with exploring the specifity of art itself. She starts with the analysis of the determinants of the women’s presence in the art world, than concentrates on the construction of the social roles ascribed to women, to finally look into the crossing areas of discrimination. The important aspect of her artistic practise is body, as a tool of artistic expression and a source of her special signature, shown in the context of how women function in the art world.
