Are EFL teacher implementing the CLL method in 5th and 6th grades within the province of Valparaíso?

Tesis (Profesor de Inglés)The purpose of this qualitative investigation is to find out whether Cooperative Language Learning (CLL) is being considered currently as a teaching method, and the frequency of its use, since this method is suggested by the Chilean curriculum. This is a qualitative, exploratory, explicative research. The universe are EFL teachers of the province of Valparaiso and the randomized sample are EFL teachers from 10 different school in that area. The instruments were 30 questionnaires and interviews. The results of research were that the teachers do consider the use of the CLL method, however it was only being used once a month by the majority of them because the large amount of students in the classroom was the main constrain. The conclusion is that EFL teachers do consider the use of the CLL method, notwithstanding this, the frequency of is use could be enhanced if the number of students per classroom was reduced in number.El propósito de esta investigación cualitativa es descubrir si el método de aprendizaje cooperativo está siendo considerado como un método de enseñanza y a su vez la frecuencia de su uso, ya que este método es sugerido por el sistema curricular de chile. Esta es una investigación cualitativa, exploratoria y explicativa. El universo de esta investigación son profesores de inglés como lengua extranjera en la región de Valparaíso y la muestra son profesores de inglés como lengua extranjera seleccionados aleatoriamente de 10 colegios en la área mencionada previamente. Los instrumentos fueron 30 cuestionarios y entrevistas. Los resultados de la investigación fueron que los profesores consideran el uso del método cooperativo, sin embargo, sólo está siendo utilizado una vez al mes por la mayoría de ellos, ya que la gran cantidad de estudiantes por sala de clase es el mayor obstáculo para el uso de este método.
