Factors that influence the decision to use videoconferencing apps: drivers and inhibitors

Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Information Management, specialization in Knowledge Management and Business IntelligenceIn today’s world, the use of videoconferencing apps has become part of our daily routine, especially during the 2019-2021 covid-19 global pandemic. Besides the demands of a worldwide health crisis, there are many reasons why to use videoconferencing apps such as their profuse value-added features. Although, in a professional context it is still unknown how videoconferencing apps use and continued use is influenced by its media capabilities. The objective of this paper is to determine how videoconferencing apps antecedents influence its use and continued use in a professional context. We propose a research model that assimilates the concepts of social presence, ubiquity, technicality, perceived fees, media synchronicity theory (MST), along with two key constructs from the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2). We applied partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) based on the conceptual model to the collected data to determine the statistical significance of our suggestions.
