A research grant was obtained from the University of Moratuwa Senate Research Award allocation for a sum of Rs. 50,000. The title of the research project was “enhancement of output of solar panels by means of reflectors”. A group of undergraduates carried out the research project as a part of their final year project. Of the total amount Rs. 21,000 was spent to purchase the electric controller, lights and the rechargeable battery for the solar panel. The authors also note with appreciation, the donation of solar panel for the project by Shell Renewables Lanka Ltd.
