Obesity is defined as an excessively high amount of body fat or adipose tissue in relation to lean body mass. This condition occurs as a result of higher energy intake than the energy expenditure. The Body Mass Index (BMI) is the tool utilized for the identification of obesity. A BM1 greater than or equal to twenty five and less than thirty is considered as ‘overweight’ and a BMI greater than or equal to thirty is considered as ‘obese’.
