Study of relationship between thermal comfort variations and the urban Canyon Geometry

The twentieth century has witnessed three main paradigmatic approaches towards cities. The first is Urbanism of a metropolitan paradigm, The second is Anti-urbanism, as significant by the criticism and abandonment of city, The Third trend Micro - urbanism of the small towns paradigm. What all these trends share is their response to the challenge of the cities, this ever- larger agglomeration of people and objects. Such a development may cause a sustained deterioration in local climate. The buildings are clustered and sited to create optimal micro climate. The urban local micro climate is modified by the "Structure" of the city, mainly of the neighborhood where a given building is located. The urban micro climatic condition thus form the immediate environment of the individual buildings. The modified climate directly affects the indoor comfort conditions and the energy use of the inhabitants for heating and air-conditioning. Some of the building shadows, the movement of wind pattern, thermal forces acting on the skin of the buildings may cause the micro climate in the surrounded area. Because of this major problem , buildings within urban blocks have to design to minimize the damage, which may cause to change the micro climate weather that area. Human mind and body recovers through recreation, rest and sleep to counter balance the mental and physical fatigue resulting from activities of the day is essential. This cycle can be and is often impeded by unfavorable climatic conditions and the resulting stress on body and ind causes discomfort. The effect of climate on man, is therefore, a factor of considerable importance. To create the best possible indoor climate as well as outdoors micro climate is the task of the designer
