This document collects and summarises the various experiences, knowledge and trends about the promising sector of tropical and island aquaculture. This large screening had been undertaken during the international congress held in the island of La Martinique (French West Indies), on May 1997, under the responsability of the European Aquaculture Society. More than 300 scientists from 48 countries confirmed the global development trend of aquaculture in the world.
