ENGLISH LANGUAGE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS ABOUT TEACHING TECHNIQUE OF ESP WRITING SKILL AT UNIVERSITY OF MUHAMMADIYAH MALANG

English for Specific Purposes (ESP) is a particular form of English language program. The ESP program focuses on enhancing students' linguistic abilities, particularly in order to improve their language acquisition. There are various language skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking. This research is about students’ perception of teaching techniques in ESP, especially on writing skills. The aim is to find out the ELED students’ perceptions about the teaching technique of ESP writing skills at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. This research used a qualitative method and used interviews as the main instrument. Also, the researcher used open-ended questionnaires as the data triangulation. The interview was done by taking online meetings through google meet, whereas the questionnaire was shared through Google Form. There were six students of the English Language Education Department who participated in this research. Based on the result of the research, it can be concluded that the positive perceptions of the participants on the lecturer teaching techniques outweigh the negative perceptions. The students showed various perceptions towards the lecturer's teaching techniques, particularly throughout the prewriting process
