Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a very common chronic gastrointestinal disorder characterized by recurrent abdominal pain and altered bowel habits without major organic disease. ROME diagnostic criteria, based on subjective gastrointestinal (GI) complaints are the most widely used criteria for diagnosing ffiS.
