The Greek ancient religious buildings, exposed to the wear of time, demanded conservation, restoration and transformation works. The severeness of the damages, the practical and functional demands and the use of each building were among the factors that formed the decision for the execution of the interventions as well as the techniques used for their implementation. The craftsmen made use of several practices in hand, which varied according to the type of intervention to be executed.
