The purpose of the essay was to investigate how older people's self-determination inretirement home is met, this through the care staff's perspective. To get an answer on thepurpose we used a qualitative method where we interviewed six care staff. Five of these weretrained assistant nurses and one of them worked as a care assistant, all interviewed haddifferent years of experience from the profession. Qualitative content analysis was used toanalyze the data collected through the interviews. Through the qualitative content analysis,several steps have been performed to analyze data, the work consisted of among other things,finding units of meaning, codes and then formulating themes.
