Geopolymers are a class of alkaline-activated materials that have been considered as promising materials for radioactive waste disposal. Currently, metakaolin-based geopolymers (MK-GPs) are attracting interest for the immobilisation of radionuclides in contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station.
