This paper reviews the Process Integration (PI) development related to the recent Conferences on Process Integration for Energy Saving and Pollution Reduction (PRES conferences) and makes suggestions for the future growth of PI branching out in the future. The conference history is now close to a quarter of the century–from 1998 to 2021, and has been flourishing despite the difficult COVID-19 period.
