In the article RELATIONS BETWEEN STEPHEN THE GREAT AND BOYARS IN THE EARLY YEARS OF HIS REIGN author attempted to show that in the fi rst years of his reign Stephen the Great had to overcome the rivalries that dominated Moldovan society after 25 years of internal wars. Through the compromises and concessions he managed to attract many of the nobles who had refugee in Poland along the former ruler. Thus, through making changes in the royal council by gradual replacement of older boyars with the young ones, he managed to obtain a majority, which was favorable for stabilizing the country and strengthening the throne
