Aims: Self-monitoring of blood glucose can improve treatment adherence and clinical outcomes. The aim of this study is to assess knowledge, practice, and barriers to self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Enugu State, Nigeria. Settings and Design: This study was a cross-sectional survey of 340 patients with type 2 diabetes at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) and Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (Park Lane) in August 2017.
