Objective: To evaluate the outcomes of laparoscopic and open appendectomy in obese patients in Surgical departments of a tertiary care hospital. Study Design: Prospective observational study. Place and Duration of Study: Bahawal Victoria Hospital. Bahawalpur, from Jan 2013 to Dec 2016. Methodology: A sample of 173 patients (aged ≥16 years, BMI >30) admitted to a surgical teaching service with a clinical diagnosis of acute appendicitis. This study was conducted on appendicitis patients, who underwent standard laparoscopic appendectomy (LA) and open Appendectomy (OA). Complicated appendicitis cases were disqualified.
